On Cloud-9: A Art Installation

Floral design is something we hold near and dear to our hearts here at Maxit Flower Design. Other than that event design comes in at a close second. To achieve a truly successful event, you must be able to say you transformed the space around you to create magic for guests and clients. Art installations are an easy way to add-on to overall aesthetic.

We had the opportunity to work with one of our favorite event producers, Little Coterie to create a breath-taking art installation of clouds cascading across a very industrial-looking ceiling at none other than the Lone Star Flight Museum.

The bar at any event can become a focal point. It is important to keep in mind height while designing a floral arrangement of this kind. Cheers everyone!

Maria Maxit started with flowers, and is now transitioning into event design as well. It’s all about the details, she says. Art Installation at museums like this have always inspired Maria. It was only a matter of time before Maxit incorporated it in its offerings.

Hand-made life-size clouds hung throughout the event space. These were all grand in size to create drama above the aircrafts. Tall ceilings call for something imaginative!

Styled Photoshoot in Round Top, TX

Round Top, Texas is one of our favorite places to travel for an off-site event. This quaint little town is located about an hour and a half from Houston’s Inner Loop. This city is the perfect weekend getaway from some great food and shopping.

We had the fantastic opportunity to have our flowers be a part of a styled shoot in collaboration with two adorable boutiques from the greater Houston area. Their names are Golden Thread and Frock Shop. We love Golden Thread for all of their colorful and fun jewelry and accessories. Also, Frock Shop carries some of our favorite clothing brands.

Country-chic was the dress code for evening at this styled photoshoot.

Pastel colors are a great option to create a colorful, yet tasteful background. We loved this venue in Round Top, TX for the huge tree which made designing easy.

Maxit Flower Design loves to incorporate color within a floral design. Here we truly wanted the flowers to represent the brands we are working with. Woman-focused and colorful were our key words. We decided to go with pastels, which made us miss Springtime incredibly.

This event is a great example of how to add more flowers into unique locations. This instance called for floral additions to the drink trays that were passed around as well as the drink cart.

To carry on the pastel floral theme, stunning pink roses were added to serving trays passed around event.

The drink cart may have been the most popular item at this styled photoshoot event.

Supper Club at Sunday Press

Sunday Supper Club is an extension of the local coffee shop and cafe Sunday Press. The initiative started after the two owners wanted to bridge the gap between women in the hospitality and healthcare industries. What is a supper club, you may ask? Traditionally, it is a dining establishment that also functions as a social club. This one, however, is not invite-only.

Sunday Press's modern, clean aesthetic makes for a phenomenal place to gather for food and drink. The supper club has had a fantastic turnout, time after time. The event occurs about once a quarter, so many are lucky enough to come out and mingle.

Some places we like to add flowers to a dinner party are placing them on catering or serving trays. This adds additional pops of color and furthers the event's overall aesthetic. A current trend we find inspiring is flowers encapsulated in ice buckets or ice cubes. This does take some prep work on the front end but is sure to wow guests.

A Tasteful Halloween

While some minds instantly go to pumpkins, we like to take a more contemporary approach to Halloween. At Maxit Flower Design, Halloween is nestled at the height of the wedding season. This offers a nice break from our typical floral designs.

Ditch the trick-or-treating for a dinner party. Event design is our second passion (after flowers, of course). Between the linens, invitations, and more, so much can be personalized to make your event unique.

A moody tablescape draped with colored ferns, red garden roses, and babies breath waiting to haunt guests on this Halloween night. There is so much more to Halloween than orange.

What allows for a tablescape like this to come together requires the right amount of layering. We love the softness and texture that colored fern brings to the table arrangement. Deep red garden roses are extremely moody in this instance and bring the drama necessary for Halloween.

A Halloween cauldron is this year’s favorite arrangement. When the client has a awesome vessel, you use it! Anyone who comes to us, and would like to bring their own vase or vessels we are happy to oblige.

Our idea of Halloween decor is a traditional cauldron bubbling over with high-quality flowers. Adding additional pieces like candles and figurines across the tablescape enables the guest’s eyes to travel throughout the space.

What’s spookier then finding out the future? We’re not sure. However, this tablescape is one for the books. Deep reds are our favorite tone to use for Halloween floral arrangements. Could you imagine this in your home next season?

Candle layering is crucial in creating a tablescape. We love to incorporate both taper and pillar candles create a full look. The idea is to have candles at different heights.

Prada Flower Bar

Prada or nada? We’ll choose Prada time after time. However, this time Prada chose us. Specialty events (not including weddings) have a special place in Maxit Flower Design’s heart, and this event is no exception.

We had the honor of participating in an exclusive shopping event hosted at the Prada store located in Houston, TX. We hosted a custom floral bar studded with flowers coordinating Prada’s newest collection. Guests were able to mix and mingle around the store to shop and also stop by our bar to create a one-of-a-kind arrangement to take home.

Maxit Designers, Ally and Elizabeth, were on-site to assist with creation. Ally said, ”this is one of my most memorable events here at Maxit,” with Elizabeth chiming in, “It was great to interact with so many different customers!”
