dear creative, you will be copied

This is a regular conversation in all artist communities and something that happens to EVERYONE. Original ideas are like our children, we work on them for months, have sleepless nights before we finally have to put them out to the world, and anxiously watch it as it grows.

This last couple months, this has happened to us more than once, and you know what.. it feels exactly like everyone said it would.  But I will live with the idea that I would rather produce work that is good enough to be copied than not. I will take a deep breath and release that negative energy that so desperately wants to come in. And I will live in the moment to rejoice that people are watching, observing and want to copy.

So bring it world, copy away.  You have raised the bar, you have demanded more creativity and we will meet your expectations. My defense, more creativity...

creating just to create

There are very few moments we can create for fun.  But when we do, it's hands down becomes my favorite day of the week.  Yesterday was one of those days. I got a chance to hang out with Lauren (our JR. Designer) and Erin (our Summer Intern), play music, share stories, laugh and create. I am determined to do this more often, I've noticed that we get to experiment, we get to explore designs and then I get a chance to take pics.  Which has slowly become my mistress.

If flowers only knew that they are becoming a very close tie to my joy of photography, they would get really jealous :-) Here are some goodies that we created...

creating experiences

We not only make things gorgeous with flowers but also create experiences that can be enhanced with flowers.  I think this video captures just that...

Thank you to 31 Films for the gorgeous image, and Natalie of Two Be Wed for inviting us in to create the flowers for their vision.  Thank you!!

event design

After being asked to incorporate Event Design for the last couple years, and pushing back on the responsibility, (due to not having time)  we have finally taken the rains and are taking on our first "Full Event Design" clients. Let me take a moment to describe some differences between, floral design and event design to help clarify the services rendered.

Floral Design: is the art that is created with flowers and plant material. Creating floral arrangements, installations, and personal flowers with the client's vision and a dose of our expertise.

Event Design: is the art of transforming an event space. This is done through our creative design direction, utilizing flowers, linens, lighting, rental items and many details to create an event brand that represents our client's vision.

These clients will be very limited as the amount of attention to detail that is necessary to create a cohesive design is remarkably demanding. WE LOVE IT!

Blush, white and green are the star colors in this bridal bouquet.

You guys!!! We FINALLY wrapped up our Spring 2017 wedding season.  It was 4 months of working every single day to make our clients dreams come true. It was some of the most challenging and fun months we've had in a long time.  I learned some valuable things, maybe the most valuable being that less is more.

We created the largest event we've ever produced with only 4 people.  And only two of those people designing the flowers.  Just little ol' me and Lauren.  I would have never believed you if you had told me that this was possible.  I had completely underestimated myself and my abilities to learn from last year's mistakes.  Grab a good team and make magic happen!
