Something super odd about myself I must confess. I look back at the work we do and love it more once I have had some time to review. I just looked back on a wedding we did a year ago and I absolutely love it. On the day I thought we produced good work, but I could not get out of my head about a couple things I though we could do better.

As a creative entrepreneur I have to say that I am incredibly hard on myself. I love what I do, but there isn’t a time I don’t think we could have done it better. Not that everyone didn’t do an amazing job and that the client wasn’t super happy. (And that is what is most important!) But that I can improve.

One random thing I got hung up on was during set up was that I didn’t plan for the floral chandeliers needing to fit through the door. Sounds so absurd, but you guys…. they wouldn’t fit through ANY of the front doors. We had to truck them through the whole entire back end of the country club, roughly two city blocks. Ok, maybe just one, but when you have 4 floral chandeliers it started to feel like a stinking marathon.

That happened Friday as we got access a day early. From that moment forward I could not get that out of my head. I began to have a pity party in my head and it would not go away. I lost sleep, and set up on Saturday feeling like I let my team down.

A year later I have perspective, learned lessons, and can totally appreciate the hard work and pieces of flower art we created for our amazing clients.

I never received professional pics, so please excuse the lack of quality. But sometimes we have to still share what we’ve created no matter the quality of images, right? Otherwise how is everyone going to see what we can make happen for you on your special day? Can I get an Amen?!

we aren't the right fit for everyone, but i hope we are the right fit for you

It is such an easy statement to say and I wholeheartedly believe that, we aren’t the right fit for everyone. But the day in and day out of that statement is so much harder than I thought it would be. After I meet with you, I literally started envisioning us creating the flowers for your special day. I day dreamed of the flowers, the textures, the new vases we would source. The excitement to tell my employees that we would be working at the venue you booked, with your photographer, with your family.

My passion is what built this business.

There were no previous owners, current owners who assist, parents money, partners, investors etc. JUST ME.

Yes of course I have some of the most amazing employees that have ever existed. But I still answer every email, every inquiry with the same passion and excitement that I did this first day I started this. And I have been compelled to let everyone know.

I want you to know that your event means so much to me. It means you saw our hard work, all the years, all the passion filled moments. You took the time to reach out and explore the possibility of working together, and that makes my heart explode with joy.

And for that, I thank you.

I wish we were perfect for everyone, that I could drive to your venue that is an hour away, book your Christmas event, or take on another event on an already booked date. But we decided to make this a place of long term passion. Where we create from a place of deep love and understanding of the art of flowers and event design. Of 13 years of perfecting, learning and understanding what elements create a perfect event and to 13 more. We only take on what we are 100% sure we can do, and do correctly.

Thank you for challenging us and making us the designers we are today. Here’s to a fun 2019 season.

I have always had a passion for photography but finding a place for it to grow has always been a bit tricky.  Maxit has always took the forefront of our time and development.  Now that our team has grown and many responsibilities that were mine have been delegated I have turned my attention to photography.

The tricky thing about photography is that you need a subject but the best thing about this problem is that I have the easiest solution.  Flowers.  Having our passions meet has been one of the most fruitful moments. Taking control of how our original art form is seen by the world through photography has been so rewarding.

We have been at the mercy of how others see our work.  And let's be honest we don't all see art the same.  Something that might be amazing to you, is a complete turn off to many others.  Our flowers are not always photographed at events and when they do get photographed the ever so sneaky salt and pepper shaker want in on the image. There is no possible way to get the photographer of every event and explain to them the best angle.  Because, yes, every arrangement has a best angle.

All that being said, we found a need to photograph our own work. To take the reigns and show off our work through our eyes.  Here's a sampling of what we came up with:

Our goal is to continue elevating our work and showcasing what we do best as artist.  I hope that I continue to grow and am able to show different elements of our work through photography.  Wish me luck

creating just to create

There are very few moments we can create for fun.  But when we do, it's hands down becomes my favorite day of the week.  Yesterday was one of those days. I got a chance to hang out with Lauren (our JR. Designer) and Erin (our Summer Intern), play music, share stories, laugh and create. I am determined to do this more often, I've noticed that we get to experiment, we get to explore designs and then I get a chance to take pics.  Which has slowly become my mistress.

If flowers only knew that they are becoming a very close tie to my joy of photography, they would get really jealous :-) Here are some goodies that we created...
